he program material, on the whole, is great. Of course, having an open source there are a lot of courses that are significantly more amateur than many others, but the top flight of courses are great.
However, the videos just don't work. Thanks to the way that they deploy movies, they simply don't buffer. Regardless of being a video-based site, they neglect to utilize the systems that other video sites (YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo) use to keep their videos safe, obtaining a system which functions in the same way Tumblr does - i.e. poorly What is Skillshare? Usually, when encountering difficulties running movies (in Chrome) I will venture over to Internet Explorer that, despite being a pretty naff browser, curiously are good at running videos along with their plugins.
I've used Skillshare in 2 blocks, one final year and one recently, at that time there haven't been any changes and more and more folks are complaining of the same issue from the comments of the majority of videos. It is a real issue that hasn't been addressed.
I have contacted customer service on both occasions and received substantially the same reaction. It's not their fault, so it is my internet due to several problems (none of which actually were issues -- cookies, temporary files, etc) and while they admitted that restricted internet (under 5mb/s) will encounter problems, they did nothing to acknowledge just how bad the problem is signed and sent off the mails stating that they were looking into it. However, they said the same a year ago and nothing has changed.
Other sites handle the needs of streaming videos that a hell of a lot better and manage issues with much more elegance and honesty. If you're able to get the movies to Startup Of The Week: Skillshare - Forbes work, good, you're in for a treat. In case you can't, don't strive, just get out and utilize somebody else - it's not an issue they're making progress on, even if they're even trying.
